July, 2018

   July 22:
• Well, weather permitting, I have found some brave souls who want to go cruising. You can join us coming up from Bohicket or down from Charleston. I am leaving Marker Wapoo Light 2 which is near the Coast Guard Boat at 1100 on 28 July and going through the cut and out the Stono River to about marker G39 near Ross Marina and just past main road. It’s a raft up sand bar we can adjust from there if it’s to crowded. If you leave Bohicket about 1100 you should get there about the same time coming North on the Stono River. I currently know of 5 boats going.

Okay, so this is a cruise and explore trip. While in the area there are lots of places to look at for sea life, fishing and picking up trash. I don’t have canvas bags but I will bring plastic or paper and we will look for what we can clean up and bring back with us to dispose of so bring a net or a pole it’s not fun to walk in plug mud up to your bag. Hope the weather holds and bring some drinks and snacks to share. Not a ton just to know this won’t be a huge cruise group but it should be a fun group! Please reply to me if you are going to try to go and I will give you the weather updates Thursday and Friday. I bought my boat to use it and I am going to do that. We are going to have FUN !

June, 2018

   June 16:
• Special event to benefit the Sea Scouts and Power Squadron! We need volunteers on June 23 from about 10am to 2pm to come help sell hotdogs, chips and sodas at West Marine in West Ashley at 975 Savannah Hwy right next to the Coburg Cow. West Marine is donating everything including a gift basket to raffle off to earn money for the Sea Scouts and Power Squadron. Please respond to let me know if you are interested in helping out with this incredible opportunity. It really is a lot of fun and I have seen groups raise a lot of money doing this activity. You get what you put into it and if we really get together and put some effort into it the amount of money could be substantial. Please consider coming even if it is only for an hour. Come do some shopping and hang out for awhile and assist with selling some hotdogs and raffle tickets. Let your friends and family know what we are doing and ask them to stop by for lunch that day as well. West Marine will also be doing other fun things through out the day. Please just RSVP or call me to let me know if you are interested in helping out. Look forward to hearing from you! Your AO Gina DeBrum, 843-323-2994 or gdebrum@gmail.com
