I hope everyone fared well this past week as Florence wreaked havoc on the Carolinas. Due to her untimely arrival and unknown landfall we felt it was necessary to cancel last Thursday’s dinner meeting. The dinner was to be prepared by the Sea Scout ship we sponsored. I understand that everything was bought to prepare the meal previous to the cancellation.
I know that this is short notice but I want to reschedule the dinner for this Thus 9/20. Just trying to lessen the financial impact for the Scouts.
Thanks and Best regards,
Donald D’Amaral, Commander
Everyone is welcome, whether members or not!
Please RSVP to let me know if you will be attending.
Thank you.

Morris Island Lighthouse Cruise is on for Saturday, August 18, rendezvous 12:45 pm NW side of Ft Sumter ferry dock in about 10 feet of water.

Bring VHF fixed & handheld as well as cell phones & text me (810-429-0421) NLT day before to sign-up & describe your bout & name passengers.

July, 2018
- July 22:
- • Well, weather permitting, I have found some brave souls who want to go cruising. You can join us coming up from Bohicket or down from Charleston. I am leaving Marker Wapoo Light 2 which is near the Coast Guard Boat at 1100 on 28 July and going through the cut and out the Stono River to about marker G39 near Ross Marina and just past main road. It’s a raft up sand bar we can adjust from there if it’s to crowded. If you leave Bohicket about 1100 you should get there about the same time coming North on the Stono River.
I currently know of 5 boats going.
Okay, so this is a cruise and explore trip. While in the area there are lots of places to look at for sea life, fishing and picking up trash.
I don’t have canvas bags but I will bring plastic or paper and we will look for what we can clean up and bring back with us to dispose of so bring a net or a pole it’s not fun to walk in plug mud up to your bag.
Hope the weather holds and bring some drinks and snacks to share. Not a ton just to know this won’t be a huge cruise group but it should be a fun group!
Please reply to me if you are going to try to go and I will give you the weather updates Thursday and Friday.
I bought my boat to use it and I am going to do that.
We are going to have FUN !

- June 16:
- • Special event to benefit the Sea Scouts and Power Squadron!
We need volunteers on June 23 from about 10am to 2pm to come help sell hotdogs, chips and sodas at West Marine in West Ashley at 975 Savannah Hwy right next to the Coburg Cow. West Marine is donating everything including a gift basket to raffle off to earn money for the Sea Scouts and Power Squadron. Please respond to let me know if you are interested in helping out with this incredible opportunity. It really is a lot of fun and I have seen groups raise a lot of money doing this activity. You get what you put into it and if we really get together and put some effort into it the amount of money could be substantial. Please consider coming even if it is only for an hour. Come do some shopping and hang out for awhile and assist with selling some hotdogs and raffle tickets. Let your friends and family know what we are doing and ask them to stop by for lunch that day as well. West Marine will also be doing other fun things through out the day. Please just RSVP or call me to let me know if you are interested in helping out. Look forward to hearing from you! Your AO Gina DeBrum, 843-323-2994 or

that you reply by Monday, 12 October 2015 if you are participating in the voting.
- I will email again on Tuesday to call for discussion.
- On October 16th I will send an email calling for the vote on each question. You are asked to vote “yes” or ”no” in an email reply. You will be given one day to vote. (That day will be October 17, the original date of voting which was to be the Oyster Roast.)

Charleston Sail & Power Squadron is seeking volunteer boat owners who can assist with parade safety measures. CSPS provides marker boats displaying flashing yellow lights along the parade route in Charleston Harbor. Because the bright lights on decorated parade boats mean limited night vision for skippers, marker boats are vital importance to highlight key turning points on the designated route. Safety lights are provided by the City of Charleston.
