America's Boating Club Charleston (the Charleston Sail and Power Squadron)
is a boating club whose members are devoted to boating, continuing education, and community service. Chartered in 1946, we are one of hundreds of squadrons of the
United States Power Squadrons®
and one of fourteen in
District 26.
Our boats
are located in and near
Charleston Harbor
in South Carolina, and our
headquarters building
is in the City of Charleston.
Members and non-members may select
boating courses
from basic boat handling, to basic and advanced navigation. In addition, members are offered courses in engine maintenance, weather, electronics and other electives. The squadron offers the
America's Boating Course
to the public, on a regular basis, as a Civic Service.
The squadron participates in the annual cleanup of the local marine environment including rivers and boat ramps. We offer free
Vessel Safety Checks
for all boats. Members enjoy monthly
boating outings
as well as a monthly
dinner meetings where programs of maritime interest is presented. A quarterly newsletter, the
Palmetto Log, highlights monthly events and relevant Squadron notices.
