Youth Outreach
The Charleston Sail and Power Squadron regularly works with young people to promote an interest in boating and encourage safe boating habits.
- We sponsor a
Sea Scout Ship
- America’s Boating Course is provided at a reduced rate ($10) to youth aged 12-18 (This includes a pizza lunch, and use of a loaner book during the class). Other courses might be available as well to qualified candidates.
- We offer the Motorboating Boy Scout merit badge each year in the fall.
- Our members volunteer in summer reading programs through the local library systems.
- We are available for nautical-themed programs for any youth group, including safe boating badges for Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls.
- We sponsor an annual youth poster contest with cash prizes for kids aged 6-14.
