D26 2014 Cruise and Rendezvous

16-18-May, 2014

Hosted by the Thurmond Lake Sail and Power Squadron, McCormick, South Carolina

The Thurmond Lake Sail and Power Squadron looks forward to having D26 enjoy a weekend on Lake Thurmond and visiting the surrounding area. We want you to mark your calendars for the weekend after Mother’s Day and plan to spend three days at the Cruise and Rendezvous.

We will be operating out of the recently renovated Savannah Lakes Resort and Marina located on the lake just off US 378 in McCormick County. There are motel rooms and two-bedroom townhouses blocked for us. We will have our Friday afternoon and Saturday morning activities here. This facility has putt-putt golf, a swimming pool, marina, a beach on the lake and tennis courts. Also we have blocked rooms at Hickory Knob State Resort Park, which is also on the lake, about a 3-mile drive from Savannah Lakes Resort. Hickory Knob has a fine restaurant, pool, a golf course, tennis courts and rooms either pool-side or lake-side. There are two golf courses in the nearby Savannah Lakes Village. We also have Soap Creek Marina off US 378 on the Georgia side that is available to us.

Our schedule looks like this:

Friday, 16-May
1600 - Registration and Hospitality Room opens
1800 - Social Hour and dinner on the deck

Saturday, 17-May
0700 - Continental breakfast at the Resort or hot breakfast at Hickory Knob
0900 - Morning activities (boating on the lake, 9-hole scramble, tour National Wild Turkey Museum, tour Thurmond Dam and Visitor’s Center, visit gold mine, shop Abbeville)

      1215 - 1500 Scavenger Hunt
1800 - Social Hour at Savannah Village Activity Center
1900 - Dinner with entertainment at Village Activity Center
