36th Annual Holiday Parade of Boats

2017 Parade of Boats

The Parade of Boats is held annually on the second Saturday evening in December and is produced by the City of Charleston’s Office of Cultural Affairs and the Charleston Sail and Power Squadron.

The 2017 Parade was held Saturday, December 9, 2017.

Photos from 2017 are available at Facebook, at the Charleston Sail and Power Squadron's page.

The prize winning boats were as follows:

Power Category:

  • 1st Place Power #5 Charleston Whaler (Roy Mevers- Mt. Pleasant, SC)
  • 2nd Place Power #14 Chaos (George Smith- Hollywood, SC)
  • 3rd Place Power #2 Walter's Revenge (Dan Kary- Hanahan, SC)
Sail Category:
  • 1st Place Sail #11 Beacon Won (Bruce Dunham and Sheila Young- Nassau, The Bahamas)
  • 2nd Place Sail First Light (Robert Turkewitz- James Island, SC)
  • Due to poor weather conditions, there was no 3rd place sail as only 2 sailboats competed.
Best-in-show: #5 Charleston Whaler

We are proud to have co-sponsored the Charleston Harbor Holiday Parade of Boats with the City of Charleston for over 17 years. We also owe a big thank you to Deb Brown and Karen Race for taking the photos under difficult conditions and doing the tabulations and scoring for the scoring sheets from the judges.
